The Challenge

A special needs child is a child differs from the normal child in terms of mental capacity, physical abilities, language capabilities, or learning abilities, a difference that calls the need to provide special services to him/her in behavioral education, education, or public services

The Innovation

Syrian Humanitarian Institute for National Empowerment SHINE has, with honor, opened a rehabilitation and training center for children with special needs in the town of Maaret al-Numan under the name “Privileged Institute”
The institute focuses on children with those who suffer from:

  • Simple mental disability
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Down syndrome
  • Hypoxia, and pronunciation and language disorders
  • Behavioral slow and difficult learning disorders
  • Autism
  • Brain atrophy.

Competent team of professionals administrates the Center. Their duties and responsibilities involve rehabilitation and training of the children. The aim is to ward off the feeling of inferiority and staying away from others and plant hope in them, Also to reduce the gap between themselves and the misfits and to help them develop their abilities and their energies and talents to contribute to and participate in the construction of their home country

 

The Impact

Around 20 students attending at Privileged Institute. They are doing amazing work that shows how successful they are and that they will be an essential cornerstone in Syria future.
