A special needs child is a child differs from the normal child in terms of mental capacity, physical abilities, language capabilities, or learning abilities, a difference that calls the need to provide special services to him/her in behavioral education, education, or public services

The Innovation

Syrian Humanitarian Institute for National Empowerment SHINE has, with honor, opened a rehabilitation and training center for children with special needs in the town of Maaret al-Numan under the name “Privileged Institute”
The institute focuses on children with those who suffer from:

• Simple mental disability
• Cerebral palsy
• Down syndrome
• Hypoxia, and pronunciation and language disorders
• Behavioral slow and difficult learning disorders
• Autism
• Brain atrophy.

Competent team of professionals administrates the Center. Their duties and responsibilities involve rehabilitation and training of the children. The aim is to ward off the feeling of inferiority and staying away from others and plant hope in them, Also to reduce the gap between themselves and the misfits and to help them develop their abilities and their energies and talents to contribute to and participate in the construction of their home country

Around 20 students attending at Privileged Institute. They are doing amazing work that shows how successful they are and that they will be an essential cornerstone in Syria future.

In Syrian children has unlimited capacities and energy. Their willingness to learn and advance has no border. They need a place where they can innovate!

The Innovation

Zedni Elma Project, a joint effort between SHINE and Basmat Amal organization is developed to help Syrian children in Idleb province innovate and show their handicrafts and paintings. The project also gives some space for children to apply what they have learned visibly and to develop their handicraft skills

The Impact

Around 53 students participated in Zedni Elma Project. They did amazing work that shows how bright their future will be if they got the chance.

At the end of the project, a ceremony to honor outstanding children. The ceremony included passages of poetry and chanting

In Difficult to reach places inside Syria, children who have been 4 years delayed of their academic level in the least need to move on with their education

The Innovation

Watch our children while they try to learn and persevere despite everything and listen to the message they want the whole world to know. SHINE participated in the establishment and support of Dar Alfarah School. A multi-level school aiming to serve Syrian people in village of Bashkon (Eastern Rural of Idleb province) and displaced people from surrounding areas

The Challenge

Majority of Syrians are leaving their country due to lack of jobs and education. They need the practical and theoretical knowledge that enable them to have their own business

The Innovation

Creating work opportunities for the youth through vocational education. Currently SIPS have the following programs:

• Information Technology
• Accounting
• Project Management
• English
• School Tutoring

The Impact

Well rounded business professionals who are capable of maintaining sustainable livelihoods. SIPS opened its doors in December 2015 and has 300 active student and around 500 prospect student.
